Next Generation Gardens

Early Childhood Challenge - Inside Out

Inspiring the next generation into horticulture is a core value of FFFLAIR. We are excited to present creative pieces from Early Childhood Centres that capture the theme of ‘Inside Out’, taking everyday items from inside the home and melding them with horticulture.

Flower Bed

Roll up your sleeves as Local Councils and Community Groups from around Aotearoa go head to head in this battle for flower bed supremacy. This zone is laid out in the form of an enormous flower with each team given one of eight giant petals in which to plant. With regional reputations on the line expect to see next level colour as teams compete for the crown of ‘Best Community FFFLAIR’.

Pretty Garden

Carving - Wananga

Curated by Chris Gerretzen, master carver and lecturer at Te Wānanga o Raukawa, this interactive garden displays beautiful traditional and contemporary carvings wrapped in traditional Maori medicinal plantings. You can watch as former and current students of Te Wānanga o Raukawa practice their craft in live demonstrations within the garden or take some time to wander the native garden and learn the traditional first aid of the forest.
